Symptoms can include, amongst others:
My
name is Georgina Burton,
and I suffered from Mononucleosis
(known as Glandular fever in the UK)
at the age of 17.
Virtually all of the acute mononucleosis symptoms disappeared after about 3 months . . . but over the following years I never really felt 100% ( around 75 - 80%). If you have experienced a particularly bad bout of mononucleosis (especailly if the lver has been affected) will understand what it can be like!!
The pattern of energy
would be changeable, so that for
a few
days or weeks I would feel relatively normal,
then, without warning, I would suffer a big energy slump, with
the
overriding symptom of chronic
fatigue and the return of a bad
phase of the old mononucleosis symptoms (sore throats, swollen glands
and tonsils, sweating, aching etc.).
Exercise would often bring on a delayed fatigue affect . . . 2 to 3
days later. A build up of mental, physical, psychological
and / or
emotional
stress on the body also seemed to affect resilience, so
that symptoms
would re-surface as though re-activated again.
This is the affect mononucleosis can have on the body, even on one that
had
been physically strong and active before the illness.
